Gareth established a recording studio in the late 90s, moving into Adrian Sherwood’s custom built premises in 2002 and refocussing the room on jazz and installing a Steinway grand piano. That facility was forced to close in 2006, but the equipment was flight cased and Signal Creative carried on recording on location. The Steinway and Pro Tools HDX rig were based at Sphere Studios in a collaboration with the producer Andy Wright for a couple of years. Most recently, with the covid-accelerated expansion of sound and video, Gareth has been developing a multi camera livestream/filming capability, as used here in the world premier of Dan Forrests’ LUX for female voices VACC and for Sabrina Kennedy, and a Dolby Atmos system for premixing projects. He has recently remotely video edited over 30 concerts remotely for Sherborne School.
Performers need good sound live, resulting in the development of an in house system initially to provide the live sound for Will Todd. Signal Creative Limited now has a wide range of sound and video equipment for hire, and a network of freelancers to provide specialist skills as required. Production is an important part of achieving excellent studio and live sound, of course, and Gareth has wide experience of anticipating problems, providing solutions, and coordinating people and gear across all these areas and types of activity.
